This is more of an excercise than anything else. Repainting a masterpiece. The waterlillies series by Monet was one of the only prints I owned as a teenager and saw me through university and post-grad years as decoration. These paintings started quite late in Monets career, my favoutrite were painted about 1916-1920. I dare not re-paint it, so here's my attempt to re-invent it, using the other very popular design movement of the 1920s, Art Deco. Taken from a photo of Giverny today. Some of the underpainting is done here, but not all yet and a big chunk of willow on the left is still in pencil.
